HISTORY

Established in 1932, Circosta Iron & Metal Company, a family owned, fourth generation run and operated company, is the largest scrap recycling business in San Francisco.

Nick Circosta, Sr. emigrated from Italy to head a prosperous scrap metal company in San Francisco. He became one of the Chief benefactors and a director of the Italian Welfare Agency here, among other prominent organizations. He was proud to recall that he began his business with an old

$30 truck in the depression, collecting scrap metal. His first major job was tearing down an unused natural gas tank in the Marina and he did the job without any help. Nick Sr., his son Nick Jr., and now his grandson Steve Circosta have provided jobs and security for their family and their employees. Today, we have served our customers proudly for over 77 years.

Circosta Iron & Metal customers range from do-it-yourself homeowners and metal sculptress, to manufacturers, plumbing and electrical contractors, along with auto dismantlers, major construction companies, light demolition, domestic and overseas ferrous and non-ferrous mills and as well as industrial accounts.
